Shedding some Pounds

Michelle Johnstone from Ottawa, Ontario writes:

Hi Nick and Roy, I love my desserts at this time of the year - peppermint brownies, Santa hat cupcakes, cheesecakes, gingerbread cookies, buche de Noels, bourbon balls ... you name'em, I love'em!  What's not so good is how tight my jeans feel in January. I was listening to you guys on the radio and I wondered: How many calories do you have to burn to lose a pound of fat?  Any ideas?

Hi Michelle, Thanks for your question. Roy and I are not doctors, but losing a few pounds is also one of our resolutions this year.  Here's an article that we found that might help you with your resolution. See below.

FASHIONISTA FACTS

Attention, Men!  Here's a final 50-50 question for you:  Should you keep the last button on your jacket open or closed?  If you guessed 'open', give yourself a high five. Now, for the real question: who started the trend?  Some believe that it was none other than King Louis XIV of France. He was known for eating 5-6 course meals, totaling as many as 10-15 dishes. One day the culinary indulgences caught up to him in the form of a bloated belly that was too big to hide. To avoid embarrassing the King, all of his staff unbuttoned their jackets.
